Brickworks was the name of the game. A trip to Havana, Cuba along side a study of culture, environment, people, and history led us to designing an embassy. The goal of this design was not to be literal in the sense of programmatic specifications, but to be literal in the sense of how bricks work. As a studio we were prescribed the task of challenging the way a brick can be maneuvered and still be structurally sound. Creating a different sense of architecture from the cultural impacts of the past and current state in Havana. This project quickly turned timeless for my partner and I when we let architecture live within a singular sectional perspective drawing. Allowing the secrecy of embassy design to remain, while simultaneously projecting an excitement of what a manual of bricks can create.
